What happens to a school community when a school begins the journey towards being an authorized IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme?

The session will explore a discussion-based model guiding students to consider concrete service projects aligned with the values expressed in the foundational documents. Presenters will demonstrate assessment directed at deepening student reflection upon the effectiveness of their project choices and indicate a portable model to be aligned with local communities.

The title of Charles Dickens' novel is an appropriate segue to begin the discussion of how the IBCC is being implemented in two high schools in two different countries. Educators must begin to think about how they are preparing students for the future, a future that one can only begin to envision with the advances in technology and global terrorism.

As it matures as an organization, the IB is increasingly in need of research to provide evidence of programme quality as well as to inform its ongoing curriculum and professional development efforts.

Maggie Doyne graduated from West Morris Mendham High School in 2005. She had made the unusual decision to take a gap year and spent that time in a LeapNow program settling into an orphanage in India teaching English. She fell in love with the kids, the work, and the landscape of India.
