Becoming Truly International: The IB at 40

Session: Block 4: Saturday 11:15 to 12:30, Room: Bayview Room A

The IB began in 1968, one of the most tumultuous years in recent history. For four decades now, the core values of the IB have been tested. Time and time again they have been validated, and the IB has thrived while many other educational movements have come and gone. But there is much more to do. Join the Chair of the IB Board of Governors, our international governance body, as she lays out the compelling case that the we can never stop working at being truly "international" and embracing other cultures and languages in our curriculum. While honoring our strong foundation, it is time to enhance and transcend our western roots by using IB programs to nurture local leaders in the developing world. Partnerships like the one IB has entered into with the Aga Khan Development Network are leading the way to a new and ambitious access agenda for the IB, and this session gives us a chance to learn about it and find ways to move it forward together.
