A Perspective on the Future of Languages in the IB

This session will address a full range of issues relating to language study in all IB programmes. It will include an update of the deliberations of the IB's Second Language Working Party. Dual language programmes, content-based language instruction and other aspects of language education will be addressed. There will be an introduction to the Global Language Convention being hosted by CASIE in conjunction with the IB in Atlanta, April 2008.

Alex Horsley, Executive Director, CASIE (Center for the Advancement and Study of International Education)
Alex Horsley is the Executive Director of the Center for the Advancement and Study of International Education (CASIE). He has advanced degrees in Education (London and Hull Universities) and Languages (Oxford University), and has served as a teacher in New Zealand, India, England and the USA. He was the founding headmaster of Atlanta International School, with subsequent terms as headmaster of IB World Schools in Beijing and Hong Kong. He specializes in dual language programmes and serves as a member of the second language working party set up by the IB to consider future directions for language education in all IB programmes.
