Airwaves to Brainwaves: Internalizing the Areas of Interaction

How can a school communicate the Areas of Interaction and the IB Learner Profile characteristics to every staff member and every student? That's the proverbial challenge that faced Fridley Middle School. Participants will learn how Fridley achieved this goal through weekly broadcasts consisting of was used fast paced, humorous skits, good questions and best practices to translate airwaves into brainwaves of understanding. Video clips of the on-air segments will be interspersed throughout the presentation along with sample scripts.


Tania Wolverton-Falk, IB Coordinator, Fridley School District

Tania Wolverton-Falk is a student-centered, principled, and compassionate leader. She has held many different roles in the past 13 years from Diploma Programme History teacher, middle school curriculum coordinator, assistant principal, and IB Coordinator to name a few. She was the driving force behind the Middle Years Programme authorization of both Fridley Middle School and Fridley High School.

Margaret Leibfried, Principal, Fridley Middle School

Margaret Leibfried is the Principal of Fridley Middle School in Fridley, Minnesota. She has spent the past 20 years as an instructional leader. Ms Leibfried is student-focused and takes the extra steps necessary to ensure success for all students.
