Designed for school officials and leaders who are investigating the feasibility of bringing the IB to their schools. This session is also appropriate for schools or districts with existing IB programmes that would like to add additional programmes. The objectives of this session are to familiarize participants with: the philosophy, structure and purposes of the IB programmes; the financial obligations of IB authorization; the educational advantages of IB programmes; the IBO application and authorization processes; the service to be expected from IBO and IBNA and; the processes employed in working with IBO and IBNA.

Facilitator Biography
Maria Hersey, Programme Specialist, IBNA
Maria Hersey is currently serving as a Programme Specialist for International Baccalaureate North America, where she previously served as the Primary Years Programme Regional Manager. Her prior educational experience includes that as PYP coordinator and assistant principal at Westward Elementary IB Magnet School in West Palm Beach, Florida. In addition, she has worked as an elementary curriculum coordinator and a classroom teacher and has served as an IBO workshop leader and site visitor. Maria holds a specialist degree in educational leadership from Florida Atlantic University and a bachelor of arts and a master of arts in education form the University of Florida. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in education with a focus on international education.
