Destiny's 3-D: Creating Problematic Scenarios for Engagement
Audience: Primary Years Programme Destiny is a student who reflected on her class's use of a problematic scenario. Some of her classmates said, "This is getting us to think outside the box. It makes us curious." And Destiny said, "It's 3-D." This session will explore what Destiny meant by that by examining models of problematic scenarios in K-12. It will provide opportunities to develop them for specific curriculum, and analyze how they foster inquiry, critical thinking, and a structure for summative assessments. John Barell, Consultant, Self-EmployedJohn Barell works in schools across the country to foster inquiry and critical thinking within appropriate instructional and curricular frameworks. He is the author, most recently, of Why are School Buses Always Yellow? and Quest for Antarctica - A Journey of Wonder and Discovery. Organization website: http://www.morecuriousminds.com |
