IB North America Research Update
Audience: Research During this interactive session, participants will have an opportunity to hear an overview of the research questions guiding the development of research projects in the region and learn about some of the recent studies in the IB, including the IB School Census, a case study of IB student performance and a study of IB students in post-secondary education. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to discuss and ask questions about research ideas and priorities for the development of future IB research projects. Elizabeth Brock, Head of Research, Development and Communications, International BaccalaureateBeth Brock received her bachelor's degree in Sociology from Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York. After traveling and working for a couple of years, she did an internship at the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) working on policy and microenterprise development. Following the end of her internship, Beth began working at International Baccalaureate in 1995. After working in the finance department for several years, Beth pursued her master's in Business and Administration in Finance and International Business at NYU's Stern School of Business, receiving her degree in 2003. She is now Head of Research, Development and Communications. Michael Dean, Research Manager, International BaccalaureateMichael Dean is the Research Manager for International Baccalaureate North America. He has been a high school mathematics teacher in the United States and Cameroon and has been involved in educational research for the past ten years. His areas of research have focused on models of mathematical cognition, diagnostic testing and applied statistics. He currently serves as an adjunct associate professor of education, psychology and applied statistics at Teachers College, Columbia University. He received a M.S. in Applied Statistics as well as a Ph.D. in Measurement and Evaluation from Teachers College, Columbia University. |
