This session provides content and pedagogy for teaching about the Arab World, the wider Middle East, and the even wider world of Islam, offering teachers with the background and understandings to teach these areas of curriculum and to better serve Muslim students and their families. The session will be hands-on and hand-outs will be provided for immediate classroom application.


Audrey Shabbas, Founder and Executive Director, AWAIR: Arab World And Islamic Resources

Audrey Shabbas has over 30 years of experience in teaching and curriculum development. Each year she conducts full-day inservice programs for approximately 40 school districts, county and state offices of education, colleges, and universities. She is a regular presenter for Harvard, Yale, Georgetown, and her work has been honored by the University of Pennsylvania and by the Middle East Studies Association's Middle East Outreach Council.
