In each workshop, teachers experience four presentations that focus on current content and research in the field.

Refugee Children, Performance-Based Activities, and the Primary Years Programme

Session: Block 7: Sunday 11:00 to 12:15, Room: Seacliff D

The session will illustrate the use of performance-based practices at the International Community School in Decatur, Georgia and encourage participants to engage in their own improvisation exercises. Performance-based activities can be used in any classroom in which individuals learn and grow by adopting new roles.

Jumpstart Inquiry, Thinking, and Action with Realia!

Session: Block 5: Saturday 2:00 to 3:15, Room: Seacliff D

Teaching staff how to use realia with PYP key concept questions has been effective in developing their pedagogical knowledge of inquiry. By using realia in this session, participants will be able to ask questions about specific objects from various cultures, and make connections to all subject areas in the curriculum.

The IB Learner Profile as a Tool for Developing International Mindedness

Session: Block 1: Friday 11:15 to 12:30, Room: Seacliff D

The IB Learner Profile is widely accepted as the basis for all IB programs, but there has not been much cohesive effort made to link it to the overall IB aim of developing international mindedness in our students. This session will focus on the how the Learner Profile can serve as a basis for achieving this objective in all three programs.
