In this session, the panel will discuss the development and organization of networking groups for Coordinators and Heads of Schools. The collaborating and sharing of ideas strengthens the authorization process and helps to sustain the IB programmes. The intended outcome will be to explore and produce strategies and ideas that promote effective models of support. This session will be beneficial for candidate schools as well as authorized schools.
Theresa Bowen, PYP Coordinator, Brandon Elementary School
Theresa Bowen is the PYP Coordinator for Morris Brandon Elementary School in Atlanta, Georgia. Theresa has been an elementary school teacher in the Atlanta Public School system for 35 years. She began teaching at Brandon Elementary in August 2001 and became the full-time PYP Coordinator at Morris Brandon Elementary School in August 2005. Morris Brandon became an IB World School in February 2007. Theresa is currently a member of the IB Coordinator's Networking Group within the Atlanta Public School system.
Mary Katherine Peele, PYP Coordinator, E. Rivers Elementary School
Mary Katherine Peele was a classroom teacher at E. Rivers Elementary School in Atlanta, Georgia for 15 years. During that time, Ms Peele spent two years teaching at an American school in Monterrey, Mexico. She became the full-time PYP Coordinator for E. Rivers in August of 2005. The school was authorized as an IB World School in February of 2007. She is currently a member of the IB Coordinator's Networking Group within the Atlanta Public School system.
Karen Evans, Head of School, Brandon Elementary School
Karen Evans has been an educator for 28 years. She was a classroom teacher and an Assistant Principal prior to becoming Principal at Morris Brandon Elementary in August of 2003. Ms Evans became the head of an IB World School when Morris Brandon received authorization in February, 2007. She is currently a member of the Principal's IB Networking Group within the Atlanta Public Schools system.
