Room: Mississippi
presented by Karen E. Cox, Principal, Ridgeview Charter Middle School
Jerry LeSage, MYP Coordinator, Ridgeview Charter Middle School
When faced with a rapidly changing socio-economic community and student body, the principal with a core team of teachers and parents began the process of finding the most effective ways to assure student success and increase student achievement. The presenters will recount the journey that led to a conversion of their traditional middle school to an MYP candidate charter school. Attendees will gain an understanding of how the decision was made to adopt the MYP, why the conversion to charter was the best option and what other changes were made to provide the optimal learning experience for all students.
